At Realbodies Pilates, courses have been designed carefully so you can achieve your desired results regardless of your level of physical / fitness ability or age. Every Pilates exercise combines strength and flexibility with breathing and total body awareness.

Pilates Matwork Level 1/Introduction
This course is an introductory programme for all new starters to Pilates even for those who are physically very fit. In this course you will learn specific Pilates exercises with all the corresponding Pilates principles.
The principles of breath, concentration, and centering, control and spinal placement are developed during the introductory stage. This routine is the foundation for the entire system. This programme will build strength, flexibility, body awareness while toning your entire muscular system.
This level cannot be skipped as it is the most important layer that prepares your body for the next 2 stages. When you are able to perform all the exercises precisely while incorporating correct breathing, centering and spinal placement you are then ready to move to the next stage. Your instructor will be able to advise you regarding your stage of competency.
Pilates Matwork Level 2
In this level you will still continue to fine tune the exercises that you have learnt from the foundation level. You will also learn some new variations of those exercises. This programme introduces many new Pilates exercises, some of which become more complex and challenging. You will continue to develop more strength, flexibility, muscle tone and work at a faster speed than the foundation level.
Pilates Matwork Level 3
This is the final layer of the Pilates matwork. Body Control and precision are continually improved upon but flow becomes an important goal. Once again the combinations and exercises become more challenging and complex. Your body becomes more streamlined and finely tuned.
Pilates Barre Fusion
Ballet dancers always have slender bodies that are both strong and lean. Both Pilates and Barre conditioning are a Ballet dancer’s secret weapon and have always been a huge part in any Professional ballet dancers physical training. ‘Pilates Barre Fusion’ is a unique and effective body training program that combines the very best exercises from both classical and contemporary Pilates and various floor and barre conditioning systems.
This class will create a streamlined body with flat abdominals, lean lower body and a defined upper body. All the muscle groups are targeted to create a long, lean defined look of a dancer. The exercises are easy to follow and there is no ballet or dance involved.
Pilates Fitness Fusion
A complete fitness and body training system in 1 hour that tones, elongates, streamlines the entire body, burns calories and body fat. This class starts with a full neuromuscular warm up followed by a 12 minute fast explosive calorie burning program using your own body weight. A 40 minute full contemporary Pilates and muscular conditioning training program follows. The method firms, lengthens and shapes muscles back to their optimal form. This system involves various concentrated movements and deep muscle conditioning.
Pilates Circle and Props: Level 2-3
This course is suitable for those who have progressed from the foundation matwork level 1 stage. You are already familiar with the basic floor work and Pilates concepts. Here we intensify the level of resistance, balance and co-ordination by adding a prop to work your body harder.
The level of resistance is particularly challenging for the upper body, arms and legs. This class adds a bit of spice to your Pilates routine and some variation to the classical matwork you’ve been working on. Props used in class are: Pilates resistance circle, Pilates resistance thera-band, Light hand weights and a Pilates mini ball.
This class has been specifically designed and adapted to address the changes, needs and adjustments during each trimester of pregnancy. This class will tone, strengthen and stretch the body in a safe environment. Pregnancy Pilates also enhances postpartum recovery.
Creative Core Pilates: Level 2-3
This class is suitable for those who have progressed from the foundation stage. You are already familiar with the basic floor work and Pilates concepts. Here we blend both classical and contempory Pilates exercises with an emphasis on your core/abdominal muscles. The sequences and exercises are arranged in a fun creative way to work your muscles in new ways and increase the training effect. A chair is often used to add versatility and imagination to the routine.
Mini-Stability Ball Pilates
The Pilates matwork repertoire is combined with a stability ball for a fun, challenging and creative work-out. The stability ball is a unique tool that is not a stable surface. This means that you not only use the set of muscles required to execute the movements but also an additional set of stabilizing muscles in your torso to balance and co-ordinate. The ball also provides extra resistance in addition to your own body weight for toning and muscular/core strength.
A dynamic Pilates workout designed to rev up the metabolism and increase your Pilates training effect. During a Pilates Tabata class, specific sets of Pilates exercises are performed at a slightly faster pace for a duration of time, followed by a short rest period.
Pilates for Sports
Pilates is an excellent primer for all sports such as, rugby, football, golf, hockey, dance and gymnastics to name a few. Many professional athletes and teams are using Pilates as their ‘secret weapon’ to enhance sporting performance and ability or to aid recovery from injury.

Cardio Pilates (Choose Level 1 or choose level 2-3)
A fun, dynamic and fat burning class. This class combines the all the strengthening, lengthening, and toning benefits of the Pilates matwork programme with the cardiovascular and fat burning benefits of rebounding (mini trampoline). This creates an effective complete fitness regime.
Rebounding is one of the best forms of aerobic exercise as it specifically stimulates the lymphatic system, immune system and every cell in your body.
Rebounding strengthens the body’s musculoskeletal system by providing an increased gravitational load without any impact to the joints that other forms of fitness generate.
The rebounding technique used in this class maintains the body’s correct alignment so the body is strengthened in its optimal posture. Your core muscles are engaged throughout. No major muscle group is over worked to achieve the cardiovascular/fat burning effect, so there is no risk of bulky tight muscle development.
A typical class begins with a 30 minute Pilates toning matwork routine to warm up and engage your body’s core and muscular system, followed by a 30 minute cardio, fat burning rebounding session.
Cardio Circuit Pilates
This is a fun, dynamic and fat burning class. This class combines the all the strengthening, lengthening, and toning benefits of the Pilates matwork programme with cardiovascular, weight loss and fat burning benefits.
This creates an effective complete fitness regime. A typical class begins with a 30 minute Pilates toning matwork routine to warm up and engage your body’s core and muscular system, followed by a 30 minute cardio, fat burning circuit session that has been carefully arranged to provide a cardiovascular/fat burning effect without overworking major muscles repetitively. So no bulky muscle development unlike other fitness programmes.
This will help you achieve a more streamlined toned effect. Bring your trainers and a hand towel to this class. Be prepared to sweat!
